Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union (IMM 5409) (if applicable): If you have a common-law partner.
Visa Application Centre (VAC) Consent Form (if applicable): If you’re using the services of a VAC for biometric collection.
Here’s a list of documents you need to provide to support your application:
Valid Passport: A passport that is valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of arrival in Canada. Include all pages, even those that are blank.
Photographs: Two passport-sized photos of yourself (and accompanying family members, if any) that meet the visa photo requirements.
Bank Statements: Recent bank statements for the last 3-6 months showing enough funds to support your stay in Canada.
Pay Slips: Recent pay slips or other proof of income (if applicable).
Employment Letter: A letter from your employer confirming your employment, position, salary, and length of employment.
Income Tax Returns: Recent tax returns (if applicable) to show your financial standing.
Sponsorship Letter (if someone is sponsoring your trip): If you’re being financially supported by someone else, include their financial documents along with a letter of invitation from them.
Travel Itinerary: A copy of your planned travel itinerary, including travel dates, flights, and accommodation bookings in Canada.
Return Ticket: Proof of your intent to return to your home country (such as a return flight ticket or proof of onward travel).
Accommodation Details: Hotel bookings or an invitation letter from a host in Canada (if you’re staying with family or friends).
Letter of Invitation: If visiting family or friends, include an invitation letter from the person you’re visiting in Canada. The letter should include details such as their full name, address, relationship to you, purpose of the visit, and duration of stay.
Tourism Activities: If applicable, include any planned activities in Canada (e.g., tourism packages, tours, etc.) or details about the event you plan to attend.
Proof of Ties: Evidence that you have strong ties to your home country and will return after your visit. This could include:
– Property ownership documents
– Employment letter (if you have a job)
– Family connections
– Any other documents that show you have reasons to return to your home country.
Medical and Police Requirements
Medical Exam: You may be asked to provide proof of a medical exam depending on your country of residence or the length of your stay in Canada. This may apply if you plan to stay for an extended period or are coming from a country with health concerns.
Police Clearance: If required, provide a police certificate showing you have no criminal record.
Processing Fee: Pay the visa application processing fee. The fee may vary depending on your nationality and the number of applicants (main applicant + dependents).
Biometrics Fee: If you’re required to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photograph), pay the biometrics fee. This applies to most applicants, depending on your nationality.
After submitting your application, you may be asked to provide biometrics. You’ll need to schedule an appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) to submit your biometrics. This includes fingerprinting and photographing.
You can apply for a Canadian tourist visa through two main ways:
Online Application: Create an account on the IRCC website and submit your application online. Upload all documents electronically.
